Head of School

Alison Moffatt: Mrs. Moffatt has been the Head of Live Oak Classical School for seven years and serves as an ex officio member of the board of  Live Oak.  Mrs. Moffatt graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University with a BA in English and from Texas A&M with an M Ed in Education Administration.  She previously worked as the Assistant Director of Admissions at Rice University and taught leadership and student development classes at Dallas Baptist University and the University of Dallas. Three of her children, David (Rh III), Philip (LII) and Kate (LI), attend Live Oak. Her oldest son James is in the autism class at University High.  She is married to Dr. Todd Moffatt.

DEAN OF STUDENT LIFE — LOGIC AND RHETORIC SCHOOLS

Casey Goff: Mr. Goff serves as the Dean of Student Life in the Logic and Rhetoric Schools and teaches the  1600-1850 history course to Logic III, Rhetoric I. He also teaches the history section of the Capstone course to Rhetoric II. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee where he graduated from Christian Brothers High School.  Casey attended both the University of Mississippi and Christian Brothers University. He received a B.A. in history and minored in English. Before moving to Waco, Mr. Goff taught English and history at St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School in Memphis.  He and his wife, Heather, have been married for six years.

DEAN OF CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION — LOGIC AND RHETORIC SCHOOLS

Carolyn Still: Mrs. Still has served Live Oak in several capacities since its opening, and she has served part-time in the role of Curriculum & Instruction for two years, working with the upper school faculty and with curriculum development.  She also teaches Rhetoric level Bible classes.  Carolyn graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Education with her teaching fields as History and English.  She holds certification in Texas in grades 6 through 12.  She received an MA in Theology with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with concentrations in New Testament and Church History.  Prior to her work at Live Oak, Carolyn taught high school English in Dallas and in Glasgow, Scotland.  Carolyn is married to Dr. Todd Still, a professor at Baylor’s Truett Seminary.  Their two sons attend Live Oak.

Dean of Curriculum and Instruction-Grammar School

Allison Buras: Allison Buras attended Baylor University for her undergraduate degree, which is in English with a minor in History. After college she earned a lifetime teaching certificate for grades Pre-K-8, and has continued taking over 45 hours of graduate work in English, theology, and education at Baylor and Regent College in Vancouver. She has worked in schools for fourteen years, nine of those as a teacher and five of those as an administrator. Founding Live Oak alongside Alison Moffatt and Carolyn Still has marked the fulfillment of a dream that began over fifteen years ago.   Her husband of eighteen years is Todd Buras, who is a professor in the Philosophy Department at Baylor, and together they have three boys who attend Live Oak: Benjamin in G5, Jonathan in G2, and Michael in Kindergarten. They enjoy living on Baylor campus and have been members of Dayspring Baptist Church for eight years.
