Board of Directors
Live Oak Classical School is an independent, Board-led institution. The Board of Directors consists of 12 members who represent a diversity of professional and denominational affiliations. The Board’s responsibility is to safeguard the mission of the school and to secure a Head of School who oversees daily operations and leadership. The Administrative Team consists of Alison Moffatt as Head of School, Andrea Moore as Chaplain, Becky Hankins as Dean of Faculty and Student Life for Grammar School, Casey Goff as Dean of Logic/Rhetoric and Student Life and Carolyn Still as Dean of Logic/Rhetoric Curriculum and Instruction, as well as Frank Alexander as CFO.
President – Ian McCaw is the Director of Athletics at Baylor University where he leads an 18-sport, Big 12 intercollegiate athletics program. He previously served as Director of Athletics at the University of Massachusetts from 2002-2003 and Northeastern University (Boston, MA) from 1997-2002. Ian and his wife, Heather ( who is a Junior Kindergarten teacher at LOCS), are members of First Baptist Church of Woodway and the parents of four Live Oak students: Christy, Paul, Callie and Corinne.
Vice- President -Julie Zakhary is a stay at home mom and a part time bookkeeper for Live Oak. Previously Julie was a CPA in public accounting and the private sector. She is married to Yost Zakhary who is the City Manager for the City of Woodway. They have twin daughters, Lauren and Emily, who are Rhetoric II students at Live Oak.
Secretary -Dan Tilly is an attorney at Scanes, Routh and James, LLP. He has served as the Chief of Staff for the Texas House of Representatives. Dan is married to Angela and they have three children, two of which are students as Live oak Classical School, in G3 and Kindergarten.
Treasurer – Frank Alexander, CFO at Live Oak Classical School.
William deGraffenried is a teacher of English at Chilton High School. He has taught at Chilton for 18 years. Prior to teaching, William was a Dorm Director for Baylor and a health club Athletic Director. William is married to Julie who is an Assistant Professor for the Department of History at Baylor. William and Julie have 3 children. Will is a Grammar 4 student and Reece is a Grammar2 student at Live Oak and Rhynn is 2 years old.
Steve Willis is a partner with Willis Design Group. Previously he was the President of First Central Credit Union in Waco. Steve is married to Besty who is a senior lecturer at Baylor University. They have three grown children, Bryan and Blake and Wendy. Steve and Betsy are blessed with the 2 granddaughters and one grandson. Steve and Betsy are members of First Baptist Church Waco.
Anndrea Stamey is a full time stay at home mom. She has worked in public accountancy in both Waco and Natchitoches, Louisiana. She is married to James who is a professor of Statistics at Baylor University. They have 2 boys, Will who is a Grammar 5 student at Live Oak and Matthew who is a Grammar 3 Encore Student at Live Oak.
Scott Moore is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Great Texts Director at Baylor University. He is also the Honors College Director and Baylor in Turkey and Gr Senior Fellow. Scott is married to Andrea. They have 5 children, Emily Anne who is a Baylor junior, Benjamin is a freshman at Notre Dame, Hannah a 11th grader at Midway, Samuel a Logic II student at Live Oak and Andrew a Grammar 5 student at Live Oak.
Felipe Garcia is the Program Manager of Navy programs at L-3 Communications. Prior to this position, Felipe was the Navy Finance Manager for L-3 Communications. Felipe is married to Sharla and they have a daughter, Aleena, who is a Rhetoric I student.
Jeff Lee is the Vice President of Members’ Choice Credit Union where he oversees Administration, Human Resources and Branch Development. Jeff is also the owner of Sports Clip Haircuts in Waco and Temple. Prior to this position Jeff worked in the Energy sector. Jeff is married to Allison and they have a son, Jonathan, who is a Grammar 3 student.
Jeff Wallace is the Director of Operations for Baylor University, Office of Investments. He has previously been employed in the banking industry in both Missouri and Louisiana. He has also served as a CPA for Arthur Anderson and Co. in Dallas. Jeff is married to Debbie and they have four children. Lauren is Grammar 3 and Will is Grammar 4.
Ex Officio member-Head of School Alison Moffatt Before helping found Live Oak, Mrs. Moffatt graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University with a BA in English and from Texas A&M with an M Ed in Administration. She worked as Assistant Director of Admissions at Rice University and taught leadership and student development classes at Dallas Baptist University and the University of Dallas. Alison has classically home schooled two children for five years; three of her children now attend Live Oak. She is married to Dr. Todd Moffatt.
