Cultivating Students’ Minds

At Live Oak Classical School, we are dedicated to cultivating students’ minds with deep knowledge, character, and love of God. As a distinctively Classical school, our curriculum draws from the rich heritage of the Western liberal arts tradition. Students learn both classical and modern languages, communicating with worlds past and present, near and far. As a decidedly Christian school, we integrate faith with learning such that the spiritual and intellectual spheres are encountered not as separate but inherently intertwined. In all that we do, we seek to foster a learning community where students come to know, love, and practice that which is true, good, and beautiful.

Our philosophy in education is to develop a whole person who will mature, flourish, and bear fruit. We seek to prepare students not just for college but for life—a full and meaningful life that spans work, family, church, and community.

We begin with the end in mind.

Our Philosophy

We approach education as formation with Christ at the Center.

Distinctively Classical

At Live Oak Classical, we espouse a classical, liberal arts philosophy of education which seeks to shape young people into knowledgeable, well-rounded, and thoughtful adults. We pursue this goal by means of the Trivium, which is Latin for the place where three roads meet. In the Grammar School, students learn the foundations of language so that they can write and speak of the world. In the Logic School, students acquire the skills to think deeply and reason carefully, and, finally, in the Rhetoric School, they synthesize what is gained in the first two stages of learning to ultimately formulate, articulate, and defend their own positions in speech and writing. Throughout this journey, students grow to see learning as a gift from God that inspires awe and appreciation for the world we seek to understand.

Decidedly Christian

Our motto, faith seeking understanding, reflects our commitment to provide a Christ-centered education that is rooted in the truth and authority of the Bible. Our teaching acknowledges that God is evident in creation, sovereign throughout history, revealed in His son, Jesus Christ, and intimately concerned with us as individuals. In doing so, we seek to provide a unified education in which all subjects – history, English, biology, philosophy, science, and the arts – are understood as part of an integrated whole. This worldview may be boldly stated, or it may be implicit, but it is always present.
What Live Oak Means To Our Community
While putting my 4 year old child to bed we normally sing songs as he drifts off to sleep that are gospel or hymnal songs. After three months of being a Junior Kindergarten student at Live Oak, my son informed me that tonight he wanted me to sing a new song. I asked him what song, and he replied, “Sing the Doxology, Dad.” He then sang the song for me, and in that moment my heart was touched as I realized the everlasting qualities Live Oak was assisting me as a parent through planting the seeds of songs to God that will carry with my son for a lifetime. This is only one story, and I must say that my heart is touched, changed, and blessed beyond measure by Live Oak through the overflow of my child’s education but even more by his deepening love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
