Athletics

A Platform for Christian Discipleship

Live Oak’s athletic programs are designed as a platform for Christian discipleship, competitive sports skill development and preparation for a lifetime of enjoyment in a variety of sports and fitness activities. Throughout all of our athletic programs, we strive to influence peers, family, and community relationships through an example of Christian sportsmanship. We want to instill a strong work ethic through specified training for competition, develop students’ leadership and athletic skills, be an environment that promotes positive sportsmanship, and to be ambassadors of their team, our school, and more importantly, of God.

Our desire is to use the athletic experience as an opportunity to strengthen the Christian character by building strong mentoring relationships between athletes and coaches. Through daily devotionals and discussion, coaches shepherd our student-athletes to compete and live their lives with the truths that our identity is not based upon the results of our performance; to play with confidence because we know to whom we belong in Christ; to grow in Christ-like maturity by persevering through adversity; to glorify God as we compete our best utilizing the gifts that He’s blessed us with.

What Live Oak Means To Our Community
While putting my 4 year old child to bed we normally sing songs as he drifts off to sleep that are gospel or hymnal songs. After three months of being a Junior Kindergarten student at Live Oak, my son informed me that tonight he wanted me to sing a new song. I asked him what song, and he replied, “Sing the Doxology, Dad.” He then sang the song for me, and in that moment my heart was touched as I realized the everlasting qualities Live Oak was assisting me as a parent through planting the seeds of songs to God that will carry with my son for a lifetime. This is only one story, and I must say that my heart is touched, changed, and blessed beyond measure by Live Oak through the overflow of my child’s education but even more by his deepening love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
