For The Glory Of God A distinctive Christ-centered education

The Admission Process

Application for Admission
Teacher Questionnaire Form
The admissions process described below is for applicants to the Grammar School (Junior Kindergarten – grade 6), Logic School (grades 7-9), and Rhetoric School (grades 10-12).  We have created a thorough admissions process in an attempt not to be exclusive but to be inclusive of families who strongly desire a classical Christian education.  Live Oak is a school committed to academic excellence and spiritual development, while instilling in students a love for learning and providing an orderly, nurturing atmosphere are priorities.  We are seeking to create a diverse student body that would represent different backgrounds, denominations, and races.  We desire to create a community where grace and respect override differences and a unity of the Spirit prevails.
  1. Attend a tour during the fall or winter semester.  Tours are given by appointment on Monday through Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., and typically last about an hour. Please call the Grammar Office at (254) 714-1007 to schedule. Initial tours are best without children.
  2. Read information about our school from our literature and from outside sources:
    • An Introduction to Classical Education by Christopher Perrin (available in our office)
    • The Lost Tools of Learning by Dorothy Sayers
  3. Students in Grammar 3 – Grammar 6 are recommended to shadow a student for a school day.  Logic students are required to shadow a day if applying during the school year.

  7. After completing all the above admissions requirements, applicants will be scheduled for a parent interview with a member of the administration. The purpose of this interview is for discussing the compatibility of the student’s and family’s goals with the school’s methods and philosophy and is an integral part of the admissions process.
  8. Deadlines for admission applications are January 31 and March 31.  After those rounds, we then offer rolling admissions based on availability.
  9. Receive notification of admissions status after careful consideration by the Admissions Committee, usually within two weeks of January deadline, March deadline, or subsequently, the family interview.
