For The Glory Of God A distinctive Christ-centered education

Parents

Parent Council

The Live Oak Parent Council is comprised of parents who work to make the Live Oak community stronger. Parent Council builds community by hosting events such as the Fall Festival and Grandparent’s Day. We serve the faculty and staff by hosting several teacher appreciation meals each year, coordinating room parents, and heading up teacher appreciation week.  We raise funds for the school by hosting the annual Book Fair, Christmas Store and running the Box Tops/Labels for Education program. These funds are used to purchase books for the library and items that enhance the education of our children (including document cameras, whiteboards, and Chromebooks.)  Lastly, we support each other with prayer, the uniform closet, and hospitality. All parents are asked to join the Parent Council as your membership dues support these activities. Please help us additionally by joining a committee. This is an easy way to earn your family service hours.

Book Fair– Assist in planning and hosting the annual Book Fair which occurs in early December. Usually involves staffing an activity during the Book Fair.

Community Events– Plan and host events for families such as the Fall Festival.  We hope to have two events per year.

Grandparents Day– Help host the grandparents on their special day with food and hospitality.

Science Fair– Help to host the Science Fair.  Set up and clean up science fair snacks and presentations and other duties as requested by chair.  The science fair is in the spring semester.

Teacher Appreciation– Help to host (set-up and clean-up) teacher appreciation lunches, prepare food for the lunches, organize monthly teacher treats, and aid in spring teacher appreciation week.

Prayer Committee– Help the prayer coordinator meet the prayer needs of the Live Oak community. Pray regularly for the school.

Uniform Closet– Assist the uniform closet chair in organizing the closet, preparing old uniforms for donation to Uganda, and assisting with summer closet sales.

Christmas Store– Sign up to help collect money and wrap gifts as the children “secretly” purchase gifts for their family members.

Fundraising Events– Help with school fundraising events like the Spring Celebration.
